JEFF TOWERS MEMORIAL FUND

The Jeff Towers Memorial Scholarship funds seniors from HHS who have been accepted to a two or four-year college for a degree in music performance or music education.

In memory of the late Hemet High School (HHS) band leader and teacher, Jeff Tower who passed away on July 4, 2017, the Hemet High School Band Alumni (HHSBA) established a scholarship fund.

Supported by donations from students, alumni, and families of the HHS Band program from 1977-2007, the fund provides an annual scholarship to a local HHS school graduate. "We are highly motivated to provide assistance to young musicians as a reflection and continuation of the late Jeff Tower's life work" shared Erin Gemar, chair of the HHSBA. “It is an opportunity for the students and our Hemet community to publicly say thank you for all we gained during his 30 years of teaching and for the dedication, energy, and passion Tower shared with all of us during that time. As a growing group of alumni, we are reuniting to turn a sad goodbye into one more impactful era of his legacy.”

The Jeff Tower Memorial Scholarship Fund (JTMSF) awarded its 1st scholarship in Spring 2019.

The Fund has awarded a total of $4,000 to HHS students planning to study music performance or music education in college. No awards were granted in 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. The JTMSF is looking forward to awarding scholarships to HHS music students graduating in the coming year.
